Hey everybody the next main topic about being a college student that I want to address is procrastination. Ask any student you know and they will tell you not to do it, but every student you ask will also be a procrastinator. I have no idea why, but we all do it whether we want to or not. It is like a horrible curse put on all students that has yet to be broken.
The curse goes like this:
-The student gets the assignment with the intent of starting it as soon as possible
-the student says to him/herself I have time I'll start it tomorrow
-I have time I'll start it the next day and so on
-Oh crap it's due tomorrow!
-Student sulks in order to stall just that much longer
I find that this curse is usually brought on by laziness or the mind frame of living in the moment. Lets face it, there aren't many students that do not feel either one of those feelings every now and again. I feel the curse of procrastination right now... It is Friday and I am writing my first of two blog posts for this week, it is 7:15pm, and I am playing drift runners 2 almost every five minutes... talk about procrastination haha....ha... (fun game though if you like the concept of drifting). Eh oh well I'll finish this later.... (just kidding)
That is so true. I always try to do everything on time but most of the times I end up doing everything right before the assignment is due. I don’t like that though. It is very stressful. I think that this happens because we get caught with other stuff, and between all of the assignments we have to do, we have to always finish the one that is due first. I try every semester to start everything on time but I always get behind at some point. I hate it! I get very stress, especially at the end of the semester.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you guys have said. I am the kind of person who would get an assignment, ignore it, and then start looking at it when the teacher begins to mention it in class. That is when I realize when it is due, and then do the assignment the day before it is due. Personally, I just get really lazy and realize why do it early when I can do it later on. I really have to change this habit. In English classes, revision is necessary and I basically turn in a first draft as a final draft. Hopefully this will change in the future. Nice post.
ReplyDeleteI do that ever semester unfortunately. I say this semester is going to be different and I’m going to not wait to the last minute to do my assignments but it always happens. Even now it is happening as I only have 5 minutes before my comment for this week does not even count. An even though I know this will happen again I will keep telling myself that I will do better next time or next semester will be different. I do not believe I will stop procrastinating until it causes me to fail something major.
